Meet the Band
Cello and saxophone might seem like an unlikely pairing for an indie folk duo, but one listen to Natural Satellite will convince you they were meant to be. Karli and Jason Reisdorf have been enchanting audiences with their distinct sound for nearly a decade, blending artistry, intimacy, and innovation into every performance.
The couple met in 2011 while studying at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, and their connection—both musical and personal—has blossomed into a family and a shared creative life. Nominated for several Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) awards, Natural Satellite combines finger-style cello, warm saxophone improvisation, and rich vocal harmonies to create music that is as emotionally resonant as it is sonically unique. Their sound draws comparisons to genre-blending acts like Morphine and Portishead, yet remains unmistakably their own.
Jason’s saxophone weaves in and out of verses harmonizing beautifully with Karli’s angelic voice. Their lyrics center on themes of self-love, reflection, and personal growth—offering listeners both comfort and inspiration. The chemistry between them is palpable onstage, radiating a musical bond forged by love and years of collaboration.
Outside of Natural Satellite, Karli leads toddler music classes and works as a freelance cellist, contributing to a variety of projects. Jason remains a dynamic force in the local music scene, freelancing and recording while also launching his own experimental venture, Son Reis Project. Together, the Reisdorfs lecture at universities, host songwriting workshops, and raise their two children in a home filled with music, creativity, and love.
